Dansol High School, Ikeja celebrated its speech and prize-giving day at the school’s hall on the 9th October 2017 to assess the school’s performance for the previous session. The event was themed; “Celebrating Stars” . It was to honor the students who had done tremendously well in the 2016/2017 academic session.
In attendance was Mr. A. A. Akinyemiju (Chairman of Dansol School), Mrs. Yinka Ogunde (Principal Consultant, Edumark Consult), Mr. E. Oladapo (Director of High School) and other distinguished guests.
In his welcome speech, Mr. Akinyemiju lauded the students who were being awarded for their excellent academic and behavioral performance. Not leaving those who weren’t receiving any award left out, he encouraged and challenged them to put in more effort and strive for excellence. In his words, “Dansol is known for excellence and at Dansol, every student is encouraged to make a mark in the world . The speech and prize-giving day celebrate those who have done well in their academic pursuit and alerts those who are not being awarded to buckle up”. He also congratulated the teachers for a job well done and told them he was looking forward to a better performance in the new session.
In her lecture titled “Achieving Greatness in your generation ”, the guest speaker, Mrs. Yinka Ogunde charged the students to be agents of change and success.
“You are an achiever! You are going to make a difference in your generation!” she made the students recite.
Mrs. Ogunde further outlined three (3) prices that must be paid for one to be an achiever;
- The price of diligence and hard work
- The price of integrity
- The price of lifting up.
The chairman of the occasion, Mr. E. Oladapo, also commended the awardees and faculties for their hard work. He asked the other students to put in more efforts so that come October 2018, they too would be celebrated.
“The price is not a birthright, it must be earned. Always aim for the best and be rest assured God will guide you”. He said.
The climax of the event came with the presentation of the awards to the well deserving students. To conclude the event, the new school prefects were decorated and refreshments were served to all those present.
