The provost, Tai Solarin College of Education, Ogun State, Dr. Lukmon Kiadese, has advised the Federal Government and corporate organizations to invest in teachers’ education so as to enhance the standard of education in the country.
Kiadese stated this during a briefing held at the school taking after accreditation of 27 academic programmes at the school by the National Commission for Colleges of Education, and noted that a nation’s education standard would be determined by the quality of its teachers.
He said that all fields of human endeavors must be taught by teachers and this is why government must invest in their education, most especially in infrastructure and human capital development. He also upheld the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria on the registration and professionalization of the teaching profession.
In a statement made by Kiadese, he said, “anyone who has no background in teaching, has no business in teaching. Because of the poor economy in the country, so many people has joined the profession. So if you want to be a teacher, you must be certified and professionally qualified”.
